About Nature behind the Wheel

Nature behind the Wheel is a part-time, three-week MDT programme in which students and young professionals delve into the relationship between humans and nature, how and why we can realise change, and how we can incorporate the voice of nature into making important decisions in the business world.

During the programme, participants receive workshops from experts in the field, conduct research, explore nature, and engage in conversations with decision-makers from the business world. During the programme, participants address issues and develop skills and knowledge that will be useful throughout their careers. Consider questions such as:

  • How do I relate to nature?
  • What is the relationship between our current connection with nature and the sustainability issues of today?
  • How do companies relate to nature?
  • How can you integrate nature into decision making?

After completing the programme, you will know how to use your skills and knowledge to give nature a role in organisations!

Maatschappelijk Diensttijd (MDT) offers young people between the ages of 12 and 30 the opportunity to develop their talents over a number of weeks to months, meet people outside their living environment, and do something for others and/or society. For example, young people organise sports activities in the neighborhood, teach newcomers the language, or support lonely elderly people as buddies. MDT helps young people find their place in society and increases their social involvement.

What started with a few pilot projects has now grown into a powerful network. With 6,500 partner organisations, more than 100,000 participating young people, and another approximately 200,000 young people who can join, MDT really makes a difference in society.
